Hardcore Players and Paintball Scenario
When you think of paintball, how long do you picture it lasting? If you guessed between 10 minutes and two hours you would be right, mostly. The average paintball game will last somewhere within that time frame. A paintball scenario is anything but your average paintball game.
A paintball scenario is a type of paintball match that is played using a predetermined setting that can last anywhere from 5 to 26 hours before it is won or lost. These games are something similar to a story, many will follow historic battles such as the Battle of the Bulge others will act out a paintball scenario like the military versus alien invaders. Most players in this type of paintball tournament will use around 2000 paintball rounds.
Unlike traditional paintball matches that generally have the goal of one team eliminating the other team until there is no one left standing, or games that involve capturing the other teams’ flag, paintball scenario games are generally points based. This means that generally no single action will win your team the tournament, but rather the completion of many missions that will get you the points to win.
Elements of a Paintball Scenario
There are many factors that make a paintball scenario unique among paintball games. The equipment used by players is generally more advanced, and for many games it is very similar to military gear. Examples of this type of gear may include a Nerf rocket and launcher, night vision goggles, and communication radios.
Unlike most paintball games, during a paintball scenario eliminated players are not removed for the entirety of the game. The players’ mock death does not generally reduce his or her team’s points either. Instead they are removed from the action for a period of time, generally 30 minutes to one hour.
Players are also assigned roles this is unique to paintball scenario games. Generally before a tournament (sometimes weeks beforehand) players are given a character card. These cards can be very detailed, sometimes containing character jobs and back story. Some players research their roles ahead of time and even purchase specific clothing and gear for that role. This type of role playing is encouraged rather than required. In many paintball scenario games, additional points are awarded for role-specific missions.
Props may be used in this type of paintball, generally far more extensively than in other types of paintball games. One example of a scenario prop is fake currency a common prop would be a wooden box labeled explosives.
